Memorial Weekend

What do you do when it rains buckets?  Get out the Gore-Tex and go check out waterfalls.  It had rained for a long time, and that gets most people down, but not me.  I love to be in the woods on days like this one.  Jim and I were headed to my parents for Saturday night - to hang with them and my sister and her family.  So I loaded up a laundry basket of warm gear, walking poles for my mom and lots and lots of Gore-Tex so anyone who wanted to go could go.  Just mom, Jim, Kylie, the dogs and I went, but that was just right.  We were going to check out Dunn Falls, but we could not cross because the water was so intense - it was okay, because we got lots of rushing water on the walk.  It was loud and powerful, and I was psyched.

Jim and I -- thanks Kylie.

One of many...

Same one, different angle.

On Monday we spent the day at the farm, in the garden.  We weeded like crazy and prepped beds for more planting.  Jim bought a flame thrower for weeding the beds and for weeding in between beds.  He said it used a bunch of propane, but it worked like a charm.  He was like Mad Max; it was awesome.

Happy little flame thrower.

Mad Max meets No Country for Old Men meets the Thurston Compound.

Beautiful day to be in the garden - breezy, cool, dry, blue-sky day with my man.
