Crashed Animals - all we needed was Esther...
Buddies
This is our stash - LOVE this stream - ski to it and along it almost every day.
Weeks ago before we got some god snow.
The extreme cold does beautiful things to the ice.
Varnum Pond - this was weeks ago - and it wasn't long after that Dixie fell into this hole. It was scary. There I am, on the edge of the ice, watching her struggle to pull herself out, helpless. I had time to formulate a plan - not sure it would have worked - but it was a plan. She was able, after two tries, to drag her wet self out of the ice hole and I was incredibly relieved. After that she ran all around the ice all mad at the world - howling and picking on Phoenix (as if he had anything to do with her falling in). Thank goodness she got herself out.
Kong Hog - she had both Kongs right where she could protect them from her brother.
Our latest big one. We got about a foot or more. It canceled school on the Friday before February break - how awesome is that?? Jim and I skied on unbroken trails, and I was thankful he was there to help, as the snow was heavy and an incredible workout.
Just yesterday - Sunday afternoon - along the stream I love. It was windy and cold and perfect in the woods, AND I actually saw two OTHER skiers out there. That never happens (which is why I go way out there) but they were wonderful and nice and our dogs got along, so it was all good. They actually recognized me, telling me I had the most familiar face. We figured out that we know one another from ski coaching (he coached for Mt. Blue Ski Team when I was assistant coaching for Leavitt) - and his wife was so warm and nice. It was a good meet-up.
Sun hitting the stream on a Sunday afternoon.
Dixie - right where we turn around - ready to go.
