July 4th and Lynn's Wedding

4th of July hike up Bald with Jim.  We went early to beat the heat.

Love the rock variations on Bald.

We had the summit to ourselves - Phoenix, Jim, Dixie and Webb Lake.

With Mt. Blue as a backdrop, Dix cools herself down.

Jim's cousin married her partner of 16 years the weekend after the 4th.  I have always voted for gay rights and marriage equality, but it wasn't until I received Lynn and Janice's wedding invitation that it really hit me - that finally they would be allowed to commit to one another legally, that finally they could have a party celebrating their commitment.  I was so glad to be there.  And it was in one of my favorite towns, Philips.  Just a drive up the Sandy to the top of a beautiful hill and we were there.

The theme of the summer: HOT.  Jim grabbing some shade.

Baby D getting after some pink lemonade.

Brothers and Baby D.

She definitely understands what a camera is...

It troubled me for a short time that I was not able to identify this mountain range, but then I did.  They are the mountains of New Vineyard.  I figured it out and then met a true local, the guy who owns Beal's in Strong, who was able to solidify my very educated guess.

This is his truck - loaded with fireworks - and a bunch of boys.  It was fun to watch these boys just hang out in the back of his truck, talking, joking, boasting, being boys.  They were there for at least on hour, just waiting for it to get dark.

The wedding tent from their garden.  Country Choir played live, open bar, laid back vibe, local - it was a good wedding.
