White Cap
Dogs at Center Hill in Weld. I did a solo mission last Thursday to test out the danger factor for sledding. It was before this last storm, and it was ICY! And fast. And hard. And bumpy. We went the next day; I made them wear helmets. They hated me, but it was a necessity.
Part of the Sledding Crew. Two of these three in the front have been every year. I wish it had been a bit softer; it was not as much fun this year because of the firm-factor. But we got out, so it is all good.
Kids flying down the hill with Tumbledown, Old Blue and Walker (from right to left). There are 6 kids in this photo -- one is separated from his sled : )
Love that birch tree -- admire it every walk up the hill.
I hauled cocoa-fixin's up the hill - stove, propane, water, cocoa, etc. They loved it. I'm in the sled tending to the water, and three of the girls came over to keep me company.
Cocoa! It was cold this year - that's why I brought it up there. Well worth it.
My hand was, no joke, about to fall off.
Saturday - Dixie and Saddleback - I skied a new-to-me trail in Madrid. Hiked up this little hill so I could see.
After the ski, the dogs and I hit up Daggett Rock in Phillips -- I used my gorilla pod tripod thing, but wiped out running to the rock. I only made it half way, but I love what the dogs are doing in the background.
But this pic shows just how big this rock is - it's one of the largest glacial erratics in Maine. I learned of it while looking at the Phillips Historical Society's spread at the Farmington Fair.
Sunday afternoon Jim hiked Bald with me. It was soooo windy up there. We left the car at 4:00pm and were on top by 4:40 - although it was windy, it was incredibly clear. Happy to be there.
Mt. Blue in the foreground - Saddleback in the background.
Toppa Bald.
Sweet little Tuesday snowstorm. We got about 10 inches or so. I took the dogs for a ski around 3:00 - once the snow had piled up some, because before this little storm, the woods were sparse. And just about a week later, they are sparse again : (
Thursday afternoon's ski - making the best of what we got while we got it.
One more. Come on, just ONE more.
