Love Where I Live

Friday after school - hopped in the car with EmJay and hit the snowmobile trails in Peru.  Headed for Tumbledown Dick - it was so nice out there - nice to walk and talk and connect.  From there we headed to the school play.  A good Friday afternoon/evening.

The warmth of the March sun is something sweet.  Gearing up for our big Saturday in Mt. Blue State Park with the Outing Club

The Crew for this trip -- all boys, all juniors, almost all ski team kids.  One wrestler.  He did great.  That is our destination behind them - Mt. Blue.  Skied in 2.5 miles, transitioned at the shelter (at the trailhead) - into boots and snowshoes - then hiked the 1.6 steep miles to the ever-so-windy summit.  Then hiked out the 1.6 - transitioned again back into ski boots and all - and skied out the 2.5 miles.  We did the whole trip in about 5 hours.  Great group of boys.

I have promised to make him a collage of all his Minute Maid Pink Lemonade Summit Moments when he is a senior.  He hopefully asked me, "Wait.  Do you have a folder on your computer specifically for me and my photos?"  Nope.  Nope, I don't.

The start of the hike - there is still a fair amount of snow up there -- YES!

Stopping by the old Fire Warden's Cabin...

Gearing up to ski out...

The Summit : )

Maine Maple Sunday

My niece with her new neighbor who BIKED to Maine Maple Sunday - how much am I going to LOVE this little neighbor??  Wahooo!  Kids in the 'hood with cool parents.  Is there reason for me to have more hope for Peru than I currently have?

Boiling Down

Late Afternoon Lull - the wagon wasn't as full after 2:00pm, and with 530+ people, we were okay with that!

The sap sure is going to run today.  Although Maine Maple Sunday has come and gone, the season is far from over.

Next weekend - it is ALL about Me and Jim -- we are going snowboarding together, and I am getting my birthday dinner at my favorite restaurant in Bethel - the Matterhorn.  This was a very short and busy weekend - from Friday evening through Sunday afternoon, I was doing for others.  Thankfully, I get a lot out of that too.  But I sure am already looking forward to this coming weekend.  Who isn't?
