December 29th
I hate it when people complain about the weather. You know, there is just not much we can do about it. And generally, I keep myself pretty sane finding alternative activities to occupy my desire to be active outside when the weather does not cooperate. But last night, as I was walking into the dark, in the woods around the cabin, in the super cold, with both dogs with me, I had an alarming thought. What if Global Warming causes Maine to cease having snow? What would I do all winter long? Sure, I love to run, but not that much. Could I mountain bike with A LOT of winter gear on? Could I invent a new sport that would allow me to be in the woods and aerobic?
This is what I think about as I silently ask for snow on my walks. I don't want to want it too badly, as I am a highly superstitious. It is never good to want something too much.
Come on Jet Stream - get working - send some of the white stuff. We need it.
But until then, I will enjoy walking to the barn morning and night in my hiking SHOES. I will find the good during this dry spell.
