Love Those Girls

Who kick some serious ass in the outdoors. Spent the whole day out and about with Al and Stacey on Thursday of break. It was awesome. Lots of skiing in (after Al monstered her way in on the Byron Road and got us to the cemetery) and then lots of snowshoeing up to get to the ridge. I love love love the days where we ski in for hours with winter boots and snowshoes on our backs (along with a lot of other necessary winter gear) and then transition to those boots and snowshoes and continue up. Of course there was not a soul out on the trail - not a track in sight - we had the woods to ourselves, and we loved it. Jack was our one canine pal, and I dreamed of when he and Nikki will be running beside one another. It was a killer day. I could do that once a week. For sure.

We ended the day with chili Stacy had made with venison, cornbread I made from "The Enchanted Broccoli Forest", and salad Alison whipped up. Good good good conversation (I love those two), good good good heart palpitating exercise and good good good food. Yup, I could do that once a week.

My ski did malfunction -- I noticed as we reached the car just as it got dark (4:30) -- it had delaminated completely. I have been without skis since, and even though there has been little to no snow, I have hated that feeling. But I just picked up my new pair today (thanks to mom and dad grabbing them at Carter's and then leaving them for me at their house) and I WILL SKI tomorrow in Peru as I wait for Jim to get out of work. We are heading to my sister's for the night and then to Boston on Saturday to pick up Nikki.

And the next adventure with my girls will involve another girl.

The light, as we made our way to the car, was beautiful. All rose and purple.

God, I simply love winter. Favorite by far.
