Last Weekend

(had such a good time on Labor Day Weekend with Al and Barry upta camp -- and still have not posted pics yet -- what is this working thing doing to me??)

Last weekend was GOOD. Got a lot done on Saturday and left Sunday for all kinds of fun. Had a "morning experience" (of course no one joined me except Luna) -- got up early and drove the beautiful back road back way to the barn, fed the horses, hung out with them for a bit and then headed up to Bald Mountain in Woodstock, Hartford, Sumner -- no idea what town it is in. Hiked up there -- I love the morning in the fall -- you can feel the cool in the air before the autumn sun warms it up. Walked up Bald (after a stop at Little Concord Pond along the way) did some stretching up top, alone, no one else, just Luna. The leaves were starting to change (and now they are really beginning to get going). Walked down and then drove back to Mom and Dad's where we got the bikes and then headed back out to camp to ride from there. We rode for about three hours, putting together a big loop that covers some ground. From there we sipped on some beers and made our way to the pond I love for a possible last swim of the season. It was cold. I swam alone. It was also incredibly beautiful. What a good day. And this weekend promises more good times on the bike and with family. My sister Julie and her husband and my niece and nephew are coming up to camp on Saturday -- bringing soup to warm over the fire and sandwiches. We are planning on canoeing around and then spending some time around the fire. Sweet. I officially move back to Farmington on Sunday -- been moving stuff out of mom and dad's for most of the week. Looking forward to being home -- have not really lived there for a long time -- and definitely not since July or so. It will be good to be home.

Last swim of the season (?) spot

That is Bald on the left (Speckled on the right) -- the pics below are from when I was standing on the ledges of Bald. The bike ride took us around Speckled Mountain, up a lot of it before it spun off to the right -- and then back around.

I love this little pond -- Shagg Pond. Appropriate that I love it since it is heart-shaped (which is part of why I love it.)

Mushrooms along the trail on my way up Bald.

One little view from Bald -- red and yellow starting to show.

From the bog by the camp -- these are what I have heard called Swamp Maples -- always the first to start going off.

More Swamp Maples.

Fall is good. Maine is good. Life is good.
