Below is a survey for a friend who is researching blogging. If you blog and would like to be a part of her research, visit her site and take the survey:

1. How long have you been blogging?
I have been blogging since this winter -- around the darkest part of the year. Pretty new still.
2. Why did you start blogging?
I always feel reflective during that time when every living thing in the woods is drawing in -- pulling all energy in to save it -- and I wanted a place to write and think and keep track of myself.
3. What have you found to be the benefits of blogging?
It makes me the most regular I have ever been with journaling. I was asked this weekend if I journal, and for the first time I could raise my hand (tentatively, yes, because I am not sure if this really counts). I blog because I like keeping up with others and think maybe people like keeping up with me. I blog because it is both visual and verbal -- my pics are right there to post and to inspire me to reflect.
4. How many times a week do you post an entry?
On a good week, 4-5 -- on a bad week, 1 a week.
5. How many different blogs do you read on a regular basis?
I read...5 or 6...I would read more I think if I knew of some good ones -- I use my friends' blog listings to try others, but I don't usually find blogs there that I really follow. If I do not know the person personally, it takes a pretty specific type of blogger to get me to read it. It either needs to make me laugh, think or feel good...for me to read someone's blog whom I do not know.
6. Do you comment on other people’s blogs?
Only sometimes.
7. Do you keep track of how many visitors you have? Is so, are you satisfied with your numbers?
I do (kind of and really informally and not at all fanatically.) I wish more people read, but that is not why I do it -- to be read by a lot of people -- I keep myself very invisible -- you can't find my blog easily -- and I like that. So that is a bit of a contradiction, I know -- I want more to read (or be interested to read) but I don't want to really put it all out there...
8. Do you ever regret a post that you wrote?
Um, yes. Just one. And I learned from it.
9. Do you think your audience has a true sense of who you are based on your blog?
Pretty close to who I am, I think. But there is a lot I hold back because it is pretty public - so no. And I don't really swear on it and anyone who knows me knows that unfortunately I do swear more than I wish I did. I am working on it.
10. Do you blog under your real name?
Kind of -- my initial.
11. Are there topics that you would never blog about?
I would not blog specifically about students I teach or colleagues I work with or my truly personal life.
12. What is the theme/topic of your blog?
I don't think I have one really -- just my life, how I spend my time, SOMEtimes (rarely) I philosophize or muse about life -- but mostly I just write about what I enjoy and what makes me happy and what is going on in my life.
13. Do you have more than one blog? If so, why?
Nosah!
Have Laura!
