An afternoon walk on Wednesday after snowboarding at Black Mountain all day with the Dirigo kids and teachers was the perfect way to stretch and appreciate the day. It was warm! The sun was out, the snow was phenomenal and snowboarding again after a ten year hiatus was just like riding a bike. Holy cow -- what a great day. The walk was the dessert of the day -- around the snowmobile trails, seeing Cheri at her mailbox, then through Delia and Wayne's backyard, then spying Cliff and Jim driving from the Sap House. My loop through the woods dumped me at the Sap House where Wayne was shoveling off some tarped lumber. He had two shovels so I jumped in and shoveled and talked and then continued on my walk. The Thurston Compound is so beautiful and so full of outdoor activities that have real purpose. As I learn more and more about the woods, finding trails and loops and secret little loops -- and as I pick up knowledge about working in the woods and types of lumber from Wayne and Marlin -- it becomes more and more like home. Love it.
Not many find exactly what they were yearning for. Isn't it a mystery when the perfect situation presents itself and fills one with complete satisfying happiness. So nice to read of your joy. Love you always, Mom
