Last Saturday - Varnum Pond - after a sweet squall, the sun came out. See the shadow?
Varnum Pond - any guesses on when the ice will go out?
Sun and Snow
Varnum Stream - good charge of snow on the banks.
Heading up the trail
Dogs, a half mile after a VERY close and scary encounter with a porcupine. He just got his fat behind up on the limb of the tree as my dogs made it to the base of the tree. My throat hurt after screaming at them to leave it, no, etc. They barely listened - and surprisingly Dixie listened more so than Phoenix. He is crazy, if it is something living, he is not listening. Again, thank goodness that porcupine saved me a trip to the vet - he was a big one too.
Dirigo Outing Club - annual sledding trip to Center Hill in Weld
BEST face plant of the day - the kids built a jump off this rock and this kid came up full of snow. Check out his glasses - he's one of our exchange students - from Germany.
Carnage! Took this pic so she could see what she did to her face when she crashed. Still smiling!
One of my sophomores landing the jump
Some of the crew
Gonna miss this guy - a lot. He had a blast, high on his perch, absolutely drilling snowballs at people. He has great aim and since he was throwing down, he was lethal.
Thank god for willing colleagues. Couldn't do it without you.
The kids - minus one who left a little early... Got a little choked up looking out at my three senior boys who have been with me since the beginning - their last sledding trip : (
THIS is how my president and his sidekick take care of business. They had these sleds secure. Did he remember to grab my straps once at the school while I was inside getting the storage room opened up? No, but...maybe the next one will.
Front of the bus
Back of the bus
Saturday's 50 degree ski - we climbed for 80 minutes - I was determined to find a mountain to help me know where I was. And I DID. That is Mt. Blue behind me, with the fire tower on top. It was only 50 minutes down.
24 weeks and a few days - there's no pulling this belly in!!
Ah yes, skiing in Temple. Why wouldn't you have a sign like this right on the trail, right by your house?
