Carlos Kitty Kicking it on the Couch
Last weekend was a killer weekend spent at home. Jim painted the roof (it so needed to be done) and on Saturday night I made a very fresh, very local dinner and we burned brush. Recognizing how little we have been home on the weekends, we relished it.
The roof before he painted this side.
Working Hard.
Done! It looks soooo good!
Al and I carpool to the Monday Night Women's Ride - we have the same bike - pretty cute.
She rode the rock garden and bridge cleanly on the way back and almost did not allow me to take a picture of her pushing her bike on this first time through.
The Carrabassett River - pretty low these days.
On Wednesday my good friend Nicki came to the farm with her little girl. We had a picnic in the middle pasture, visited with all the animals, went for a walk in the field, caught up and promised to see one another soon. She and I were tight when I student taught at Fryeburg Academy - we have had many phenomenal mountain bike rides and hikes. She is my kind of girl. And her daughter is something else - she is awesome.
My friends as moms - wow.
Like her mom, this girl is brave and has a need for speed!
Once home to Farmington that afternoon, I took Dix for a beautiful walk in the fields of Farmington. Pretty lucky to live where I do.
And alas, it is Sunday night of a work week. Although not officially over until the Equinox or the passing of Labor Day, Summer sure feels like it is on its way out. We rode today up in Carrabassett, and even though it was a bit humid, you could feel Fall. The geese are moving and I am hoping for a big winter - one to make up for last year's.
