Snow : )

I took this on Thursday - on a walk with Dixie - before the blessed event.

Saturday morning I got out early - before the wind.  I wanted to see the snow on the trees and in the woods.  The snow was very wet and made everything so pretty and quiet.  This is the trestle that used to go over the Sandy.  As I came back from this ski, the wind picked up - way up high in the trees - and for about 20 seconds it was whiteout conditions.  Sparkling snow flying about.

Jim and I joined the Winter Farmers' Market in Farmington this week.  It was a CSA fair, so we went and sold maple syrup hoping for some new CSA members.  We did not get any new members, but I did see lots of people I have known in the past.  One guy remembered my name and where I used to teach - all from me working at the Boiler Room in Wilton back when it was good - I still cannot place him whatsoever, and that bugs me!  There was live Bluegrass music - the banjo player is a son of a woman I used to work with at Leavitt - chatted him up and taught him my name so he would pass along a hello to his mom.  Taught him by saying, "It's like Beatch, without the ch."  I think he got it : )

After the market, Jim and went for a lovely ski out in Temple.  So pretty.  So thankful for the fresh snow.

That night, in my effort to find something fun to do, I did an intelligence test of Dix.  It goes like this: you put a dog treat under a dishtowel then you tell the dog to get the treat.  The quicker they do it, the smarter they are (seriously scientific, I know).  This is Dixie laying on the dishtowel that is covering the treat.  So, I guess she is not that smart, huh?

And today's ski - was FREAKING EPIC!  Just me and Dix out in Weld.  I went to a very out of the way spot to park - scoping out where we mountain bike.  Found the trail and snapped this pic of "No Snowmobiles" "ATV Only" - this translates to fresh skiing for a girl with her dog.  The X-C skiing trails in Mt. Blue SP are really really good - beautiful, but because they groom, they do not allow dogs (understandably) - so to find a trail and ski a trail that is for us only - with snow like it was today - and the sky as blue as it was...  Awesome.  We skied for a solid two hours - climbing and descending equally.  So thankful for the snow!  And praying for more.

Pretty sweet.  Mmmmm!  I LOVE IT!  So much.
