A good weekend to be sure. Could use another day, but am happy with the way the weekend went. Took this from a mountaintop in Oquossoc today. It was pretty up there. The sun was out, and the clouds cleared as the afternoon flew by.

Two big moose on the drive home. They were munching on the salty snow (roadside) as we headed South on Route 4. You can see the smaller ones legs behind this ones. They looked good. Last Sunday the eagle, this Sunday two big moose. Wahoo!
Friday after school I split for Lake Region HS. My nephew was starting varsity basketball - first time - as a sophomore. Had to be there. Had to get some solid time in the woods too. So I did what I do. Scoped out the gazetteer, chose a logging road to explore, stopped at the spring on Green Woods road on my way to the logging road, parked and hit the trail. Walked into the dark - took this on my way back to the car. The moon was beautiful, and the air was crisp. Found a sweet snowmobile trail I will certainly be checking out on skis as soon as there is snow.
My nephew did so well in the game. Scored 9 points, stole the ball twice from a chubby, big boy TWICE (while the kid was dribbling) in the first quarter and made the layup each time. I was so proud of him. It was a freaking blast to watch him out there.
Drove back to Poland, hung with my dad, talking until midnight (my sister passed out on the couch like she always does) then went to bed so I could get up early for a trail run in Range SP. Got up for 7am, took both dogs for a trail run - did not see a soul and loved that. From there, after showering, I headed to the Speech and Debate Tourney at Poland HS. Saw one of my senior girls perform her Original Works (she was an AP student and we have recently been working on her college essay) and then watched a favorite senior, who is a born debater, debate a worthy opponent, on whether or not requiring all to take care of the greater good is moral or not. They were IMPRESSIVE. Holy cow. That was fun. From there I drove to Turner and checked out Nezinscot Farm - spending time milling about, then headed for Farmtown. Al and Barry were making sushi and invited us up. We grabbed an app from Thai Smile then headed North for food and fun. Talked the crew into a full moon walk after dinner - it was sublime. The moon has been absolutely beautiful the past few nights.
And now, another week is on the door step. This week we move to Peru - on Tuesday - as Grampa goes in to have his hip replaced AGAIN. Makes me so mad. He had it done a couple of years ago (after falling off a wood pile) and the freaking "cement" did not hold up. So now, at age 89+, he has to do it again. We will be there for awhile, taking care of him after he gets back. Happy to do it. He is a good man.
Forgot to note that I made my first loaf of bread with our new bread machine - damn! It is soooo good. Made a cinnamon raisin loaf - half whole wheat flour - and this morning, I made french toast with the bread. So good. Was telling Jim on the hike today, that loaf will be a rare, special occasion loaf, but when I make it again, I am going to make french toast again but stuff it with a maple cream cheese - that part was Jim's idea after I asked what we could stuff it with... Sound good, or what?
Looking forward to being on the farm, spending more time outside, in the woods and with my animals. And like everyone I know, looking forward to Christmas with family, time off from the kiddos and a big fat snowstorm -- two of those three are imminent. Sure wish the third was too.
