We have been having such a good time lately...you would not know it from the lack of photos and posts. The internet connection is so slow at home and the school day so busy that I never find - or take - or make - time to get photos uploaded and thoughts solidified.
Birthday weekend was awesome (photos later when I have more internet speed or more patience - Iam thinking that it will be when I have more internet speed). This weekend has been fun. Spent the day out and about exploring on Saturday - and then went to Jim's cousin's 50th birthday party at The Granary last night. There was a live band that was good and a lot of "old hippies". Great place to be. Today I ski with the dogs and then we head to Peru (probably to the sap house) to celebrate Jim's mom's birthday.
Gearing up for our annual mountain biking trip to Pisgah National Forest in late April. Going to invest in some mac-daddy car camping gear. THAT is exciting. As is the fact that I get to shop with the grant money I got for the element of my curriculum that gets kids overnight on the Appalachian Trail. The Outing Club is gaining steam. I had four for the first snowshoe, 16 for sledding two weekends ago and we will see how many I get for this Saturday's snowshoe up Bald Mountain in Weld. I hope at least 8 - let's double what I had the first time. The kids are onto how physically challenging snowshoeing is. I keep telling them to not tell anyone : )
Spring is in the air, and that is quite alright. It feels good to feel the strength of the sun returning. It is absolutely wonderful to hear birds beginning to sing again. As I headed to Hannaford this morning for groceries, I noticed the snowbanks are diminishing. I could see a lot better where I pull onto Routes 2 and 4 - and that made me think about how much I can't see in the winter - how much space gets taken up with the snowbanks from the plow. It will be good to have Spring come. I would not mind just ONE more big dumping storm before Winter goes. One more. Just one more. For a killer, final Mainer Day at Saddleback.
Enjoy the day.
