The farrier is coming today! Yay. And I am buying $175 worth of wormer -- ouch. On Monday I take Luna to the vet for X-Rays of her hip -- she has been gimpy lately and it has lasted about a month so I think it is time. Al and Barry's dog bit her badly this weekend and ripped her face -- ugly. So I have been doctoring that too -- peroxide and water baths, anti-biotic ointment, lots of TLC. She is getting better, I think. I felt so badly for her -- she was all mopey after it happened. It will definitely leave a scar : ( She is such a good girl -- love her. Her face gets whiter every day I think. Our road trip this summer will be sweet...two old gals driving west. YES!
Taco is progressing so well -- every day, twice a day, I work with her feet -- and the improvement is marked. Hopefully she is a good girl with her new friend Tom (the farrier) and hopefully clipping her hooves will alleviate some pressure on her tendons and make her feel better. And hopefully, fingers crossed and hope in my whole body, I will be taking a short ride on Sunday. Please please please, I hope so. I have been missing that so much.
Saturday Julie and I are cooking for my mum. We have a big plan, but I am most excited about the entree pick (my choice from the new Hannaford recipe mag) Dominican Haddock -- there is a way more native name than that, but I forget -- I will learn it. It looks and sounds so good: fresh cilantro, coconut milk, lime...and more -- yum! Lots of other dishes too -- spinach salad from the Thurston recipe world (so good -- anything with bacon is sooo good). Jim and Craig will sheetrock all day Saturday while Julie and I cook. Fun for all : )
Loving the rain -- love love loving it. If I have to work, rain is okay. Happy damp day.
You girls always make the tastiest dinners. Ya, the main meal was delicious, but most outstanding was the caramel, chocolate, layered over rich shortbread. My mouth is watering. Thank you K. and J. for a wonderful Mother's Day!
